SCOOP: Emraan Hashmi’s horror film Dybbuk set to face off on digital with Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Hum Do Hamare Do in Diwali week: Bollywood News

It is a common trend to release exciting films at festivals in theaters, when attendance is generally expected to be high. This trend has also been picked up by digital platforms, especially after the OTT saw an increase in subscriptions due to the pandemic. Last year at Diwali, the Big Three of streaming giants – Disney + Hotstar, Netflix and Amazon Prime – presented Akshay Kumar’s horror comedy. Laxmii, the quirky anthology of Anurag Basu Ludo and the light entertainer Chhalaang respectively in the week of Diwali. This year, the theaters of Maharashtra will resume their activities 2 weeks before Diwali. But OTT releases will continue and we’ll have yet another digital clash during Festival of Lights week.

Netflix was the first to announce its release Meenakshi Sundareshwar on Diwali day, that is, November 5th. It stars Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani and is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment by Karan Johar. Days later, it emerged that Disney + Hotstar would premiere Hum Do Hamare Do October 29. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal and Ratna Pathak Shah, it is directed by Abhishek Jain and produced by Dinesh Vijan.

And now Bollywood Hungama found out that Amazon Prime is also planning to release a movie this festive week. A source told us: “The big bosses of Amazon have decided to create Dibouk. It’s a horror movie starring Emraan Hashmi. Diwali is generally associated with light films. But by releasing Dibouk in the festival, they want to stand out and are confident that viewers will be ready to experience this fear in the midst of the festive fervor.

However, the source said the exact date of its release is not yet known. “Amazon is considering Diwali week. The trailer for the film will be released on October 20. The release date will be announced with the trailer or the day before.

Dibouk is the official remake of the Malayalam movie Ezra (2017) and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. It is directed by Jay Krishnan, who also directed the original version.
