Regina Hall Directs Amazon Horror Movie

Amazon Studios has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming horror thriller titled Master, starring Regina Hall as Gail Bishop, the first black master of a dormitory at a former elite university. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. It is set to debut simultaneously in select theaters and on Prime Video on Friday, March 18.

Master is written and directed by Mariama Diallo, known for directing the Sundance-winning short horror film Wolf Hair. The film stars Regina Hall as Gail Bishop, Amber Gray as Liv Beckman, Zoe Renee as Jasmine Moore, Ella Hunt as Cressida, Talia Ryder as Amelia, Talia Balsam as Diandra, and Bruce Altman as Brian.

“In the film, three women struggle to find their place at a prestigious New England university whose chilling elitism may mask something more sinister,” the synopsis reads. “Professor Gail Bishop was recently promoted to Master residence hall, the first time at legendary Ancaster College that a black woman has held the position. Determined to breathe new life into an age-old tradition, Gail soon finds herself immersed in the trials and tribulations of Jasmine Moore, an energetic and optimistic black student. Jasmine’s stay in Ancaster hits a snag early on when she’s assigned a dorm that’s rumored to be haunted. Things get worse when Jasmine clashes in class with Liv Beckman, a professor in the midst of her own racist tenure exam.

“As Gail tries to keep order and perform the duties of a Master, the cracks are beginning to show in Ancaster’s once-immaculate facade. After a career spent struggling to enter Ancaster’s inner circle, Gail is faced with the gruesome prospect of what lies beneath, her question ultimately becoming not whether the school is haunted, but by whom. .

Master is produced by Hall and Andrea Roa, with Brad Becker-Parton and Josh Astrachan serving as producers.
