SoHo’s newest gallery, Maxdi Gallery (412 West Broadway), today announced an exciting multimedia art exhibit by emerging artist and independent actress Sasha K. Gordon (SKG) beginning Thursday, February 24 from 6 p.m. at 21h. A collection of 5 paintings will be featured in SKG’s first art exhibition titled “Per Aspera Ad Astra” which tells the artist’s personal story of adversity, healing through art and transformation of his trauma into something beautiful. The evening will kick off with a live performance segment which will include a set of original music by Brooklyn-based indie pop/rock band Margot & The Midnight Tenants, a dance piece by award-winning artists Elena Binder and Zeki Maviyildiz, a short theatrical stage featuring actress Amy Stiller (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bull, HBO’s Divorce, Love Life, At Home With Amy Sedaris) and SKG directed by independent filmmaker Matthew Kohn, and a special healing sound meditation by Tiffany Adams. The performance elements will dialogue with the works on display and offer guests an immersive experience that appeals to all the senses. Part of the paintings sold will be donated to a non-profit association helping orphaned children in Ukraine.

About the Gallery: Maxdi Gallery designed and developed by Maxdi, Inc. is a brand new gallery located at 412 West Broadway in SoHo. He currently represents artists who work with traditional media, such as paintings and sculptures, and who seek to explore new and growing digital and NFT markets. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition in November 2021 was a powerful selection of bronze sculptures by French sculptor and multidisciplinary artist Aima Saint Hunon.
About the artist: Sasha K. Gordon is a Ukraine-born, New York-based freelance film actress and intuitive painter. She is best known for her work in the title role of the critically acclaimed independent film “Natasha” by David Bezmozgis, for which she received a Best Actress nomination at the Canadian Screen Awards. The film enjoyed success on the international festival circuit and opened in New York and Canadian cinemas to rave reviews from numerous publications, including The New York Times. Other film roles include Craig Singer’s award-winning psychological thriller “6:45,” “Zulu Wedding” and Matthew Kohn’s “Luxe Hotel” which recently had its world premiere at the NYC Indie Theater Film Festival at the New Ohio Theater. At the start of Covid, SKG began creating custom healing paintings through their new art project, Wav8motion (Wavemotion). SKG recently wrote a personal essay on popular online publishing platform Medium about how she turned to art after a traumatic experience she suffered in 2015.
