David Arquette reprises the role of Dewey Riley in the new Scream movie, which is now in theaters, and horror fans will get to see it in another new horror release in less than a month. Arquette plays in Ghosts of the Ozarks, to which XYZ Films will offer a theatrical, digital and on-demand release on February 3rd, and you can watch the trailer in the embed above!
Directed by Matt Glass and Jordan Wayne Long from a script written by Long with Tara Perry and Sean Anthony Davis, Ghosts of the Ozarks is described as being an “exciting new take on the ghost story of the south”. Here is the synopsis:
In post-Civil War Arkansas, a young doctor is mysteriously summoned to a remote town in the Ozarks to discover that the utopian paradise is filled with secrets and surrounded by a menacing, unearthly presence.
Arquette is joined in the cast by Tim Blake Nelson (O brother, where are you?), Angela Bettis (Can), Thomas Hobson (12 hour shift), Phil Morris (Doom Patrol), and co-writer Tara Perry (Fortunate).
Glass and Long have a 7 minute short titled Ghosts of the Ozarks on their filmographies, so it appears to be a “feature expansion” situation. The director duo made their debut with the 2018 comedy thriller Squirrel. Hobson and Perry were both in Squirrel and the short version of Ghosts of the Ozarks also.
Ghosts of the Ozarks Sounds interesting to me and Glass and Long were able to put together a solid cast for the movie, so I’ll probably check this one out when it comes out next month.
