Filmmaker Anees Bazmee is a happy man as his latest release, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, a horror comedy starring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu has received a grand opening in theaters since its release on Friday, May 20, 2022 .
The director was candid in an interview with IANS and said the comedy genre was the hardest to work with. He also added that at one time this genre was looked down upon.
Talking about comedy as being a difficult genre for actors as well as filmmakers, Anees said, “It’s true because people forgot to laugh and making them laugh is very difficult because other emotions can be planned. , a comedy is not like that. It’s very difficult. I’ve written so many movies but I still think acting is the hardest job. The timing, the creation of the atmosphere must be right and the planning is difficult.
The director, who has worked extensively in the comedy genre with films like ‘Welcome’, ‘No Entry’, ‘Ready’, ‘Singh is Kinng’ and ‘Mubarakan’, said many big stars in the industry have also thought the comedy genre was too difficult. Speaking on the subject, he added: “Slowly, gradually, a lot of great people started to analyze that what seemed simple, is not so easy and they respect because the earlier comedy was little looked down on a while ago. more than three years and it’s not like that anymore.”
Over the past few years, horror comedies have found several devoted fans and movies of this genre have become very popular among the masses. For example, “Stree”, “Bhoot Police”, “Roohi” and more. Anees feels he has decoded why this genre has become so popular lately.
He said, “If we talk about horror anywhere in our childhood, it’s related to horror. We’ve heard stories from people, so somewhere in our minds it sticks and if somebody makes a movie like that, then people like it.
Anees shares, however, that he doesn’t believe one genre is more successful than another. He said: “I don’t believe in any genre, in the sense that this particular genre works. We should. I’m going to be very honest when I was making this movie, I didn’t think like that. I only make a film when it touches me, whatever the genre.
Anees concluded her interview by saying, “I’ve done romantic movies, comedy movies, suspense thrillers, I’ve never done a horror movie and I thought I should. It will be fun and I did.
